Christan Mercurio
Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee
I am Christan Mercurio, an MFT Trainee at Process Therapy Institute and a Master’s candidate in Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University, graduating in 2025. With a Bachelor’s in Music Education from San Jose State University and over two decades of experience in the tech industry, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. My background has equipped me with a deep understanding of the pressures and challenges faced by professionals in high-stress environments, particularly in the tech sector.
Having been in 12-step recovery for over 19 years, I integrate personal insights from my journey into a holistic therapeutic approach that addresses the interconnectedness of experience, emotion, and biological processes. I specialize in transforming resistant thought and behavior patterns, facilitating significant personal and professional growth.
My commitment to mental health extends beyond my professional work, as I have dedicated over 400 hours to volunteer efforts with organizations such as Santa Clara County Suicide and Crisis and the Bill Wilson Center. In therapy, I strive to create a validating and accepting environment, promoting growth through active listening, compassion, and collaborative problem-solving. My goal is to help you navigate your unique challenges and discover healthier ways of functioning and thriving.
